Cole Chuffed at TV Role

By Rebecca Richmond

Swimming champion Ellie Cole will host the second series of Frankston TV. The five-episode Channel 31 series will feature an indepth look at Cole’s rise from a childhood amputee after contracting cancer in her leg to a four-time gold medalist at the London Paralympics last year.

Cole, of Frankston, who was recently named Frankston’s tourism ambassador, said she was “surprised but excited” to be given the role as host. “I don’t have any experience in TV, but this will certainly open up another door for me,” Cole, 21, said. “I’m thrilled to be able to show off my home town on television. This series showcases what Frankston has to offer, which I feel is a lot.”

An episode that particularly sparked Cole’s interest featured the new Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre. “Obviously being a swimmer I am really excited for this centre,” she said.

The premiere episode on Sunday will feature former boxing world champion Johnny Famechon, the history of Wells Street, a tour of the exUrban Screens digital arts festival and Frankston restaurateur Paul Mathis.Series Two will air every Sunday at 9pm and Wednesdays at 4.30pm until November 16.
