By Mikaela Fowler

Stumped for what to get Dad this Father’s Day? Stage 4 restrictions have made this year’s Fathers Day celebrations a little more difficult, but not impossible! Check out this list of some of the Mornington Peninsula’s favorite eateries who have switched things up to accommodate the community’s taste buds with delivery options and some who have even put together some scrumptious package options to send to Dad! These local legends have your back!

Conscious Cravings Co

Home business-turned-humble café Conscious Cravings Co soon found itself needing to expand from its Moorooduc Coolstores earlier this year. The Conscious Cravings Co team is now overjoyed to bring you a much bigger space in Mordialloc.

Conscious Cravings Co is a 100 per cent vegan café. All recipes are created with health and well-being in mind and are made from whole foods, are gluten and refined sugar-free and are FODMAP-friendly. They’re even served to you in eco-friendly packaging.

Having opened the doors to its new premises during Melbourne’s first lockdown, Conscious Cravings Co partnered with Skipp app to bring you an easier and safer way to grab your coffee via contactless ordering. Also available on the app is the current takeaway menu served to you from the servery window. Download Skip app via the app store on your smart phone.

Conscious Cravings Co’s temporary opening hours are Thursday to Sunday from 8am-3pm, and the café hopes to be open every day again soon.

Ten Sixty One

Bianca Paganoni, a fourth-generation apple grower, is the face of Moorooduc cider producer Ten Sixty One. After watching tonnes of apples rot before her eyes on the family’s Atlanta Orchards farm, Bianca decided to wage a war on waste – and Ten Sixty One was born.

Ten Sixty One takes the farm’s ‘reject’ apples – those that supermarkets turn away because they aren’t visually appealing, even though they’re still perfectly tasty – and cold-presses them to make the juice that’s then fermented to create crisp, sparkling cider.

All Ten Sixty One’s equipment uses either air compression or electricity derived wholly from the farm’s solar energy array, and the fully recyclable packaging is locally sourced. Ten Sixty One isn’t just another cider on the market; this is the product of a hardworking orchardist with a vision to make the community a better place.

You can buy Ten Sixty One cider in bottles or cans from the website, where you will also find Ten Sixty One clothing available to order. Local cider stockists can also be found on the website, and keep an eye on Ten Sixty One’s Facebook page for new stockists.
