Let these preferences guide your colour palette, furniture choices and overall aesthetic.”
“Think about the practical aspects of each room. How will you use the space on a daily basis? Will it be a place for work, relaxation, socialising, or all of the above? This functional consideration ensures that your design not only looks great but also supports your daily activities seamlessly.
“By starting with a focal piece you love and allowing your lifestyle and personal taste to shape the aesthetic and functionality of each room, the design process becomes an exciting journey.”
“While staying updated with design trends is important, it’s equally important to infuse spaces with your personality and way of life,” Yarbrough says. “Trends come and go but a home that reflects its inhabitants, character and stories stands the test of time.
“By blending personal touches with timeless design elements, you can create spaces that are not only tasteful and timeless but also deeply meaningful to you.”
“We are currently seeing a resurgence towards earthy tones, warm browns, muted greens and terracotta burnt oranges which create a restful, grounded space. These colours reflect a desire for tranquility and connection with nature.
“However, classic colour palettes like crisp whites, soothing blues and warm neutrals remain timeless additions to any home. These versatile hues provide a timeless backdrop that can be easily refreshed with accent pieces and accessories as trends evolve.”
“Black interiors can be incredibly sophisticated and dramatic when executed thoughtfully. Contrary to the misconception that black makes rooms feel smaller, it can actually create a sense of depth and intimacy when balanced with ample natural light and strategic use of contrasting colours and textures.
“Incorporating reflective surfaces and statement lighting can further enhance the allure of black interiors, transforming them into captivating spaces full of depth and character.”
“In small living spaces, maximising functionality and minimising clutter are key,” Yarbrough says. “Opt for multi-functional furniture pieces that serve dual purposes such as storage ottomans or nesting tables.
